1st Public Diplomacy Symposium
Public Diplomacy in the Era of Transformation and Türkiye
April 24-25, 2025
Dear Scientists,
Marmara University Faculty of Communication will organize Türkiye's first Public Diplomacy Symposium on April 24-25, 2025, to bring together academics, experts and practitioners working in the field of public diplomacy. The theme of the symposium has been determined as "Public Diplomacy in the Era of Transformation and Türkiye".
The 21st century, which we have just completed the first quarter of, is already witnessing revolutionary transformations in many areas. While countries struggle with the problems that emerged in the 20th century and continue to affect today, they are also looking for ways to cope with many new issues and, problems, especially digitalization, climate change, and regional wars.
The management of these transformations, which closely concern the countries’ place in the international balance of power, security, prosperity, stability, and reputation, depends on new strategies, perspectives, institutions, and methods. Public diplomacy also provides countries with useful approaches, techniques, and tools to understand, evaluate, and respond appropriately by developing policies to manage these transformations.
The symposium aims to explore current approaches, and developments in the field of public diplomacy and to encourage new discussions, and aims to address different perspectives in a holistic manner, from the dimensions of thought and concept to strategy and management, from the dimensions of practices, methods and tools to identity, image and reputation.
We invite you to contribute with your papers to the 1st Public Diplomacy Symposium, which will be held for the first time in Türkiye in the field of public diplomacy.

Information About the Symposium
- Participation in the symposium is free.
- The symposium will be held face-to-face at Marmara University Göztepe Campus.
- The symposium languages are Turkish and English.
- The abstract submission deadline is March 30, 2025.
- You can apply to the symposium by completely filling out the application form on the kadis.marmara.edu.tr website and sending it to kadis@marmara.edu.tr e-mail address.
- The Abstract Book will be published after the symposium.
- Full texts have the opportunity to be published in the Turkish Review of Communication Studies (TURCOM) journal by re-running the referee process.
- Each participant can participate in the symposium with one paper. For double-authored papers, this number is limited to two papers. Papers can have at most two authors.
